Album Curiosities
- Released June 4, 1996 in US.
- Load contained the "most finished" songs of a mammoth
30 song session.. the remaining songs to be on the next album.
- This was the first album for both guitar player's to have expanded
roles... Kirk plays rhythms, and James plays more leads.
- Load featured a new Metallica logo, and a new "4M Star"
logo.
- As of January 1997 Load is quadruple platinum.
- US singles released are Until It Sleeps, Hero Of The Day and King
Nothing.
- Load features Metallica's longest song... The Outlaw Torn, yet
a minute of it is edited to fit on the album.
- The albums is as long as technically possibly, 78:59.
- The title Load is meant to be ambiguous, leaving the album title
open to many possibilities and interpretations.
- Very little lyrics are included in the CD booklet, allowing James'
lyrics to be more open to interpretations.
- Load was released after a contract dispute with Elektra.
- The band remains with Elektra, and no details of the new contract
have been released, though both sides are said to be happy.
- Metallica was the headliner on the Lollapalooza tour following
the release of Load.
- After Lollapalooza, Metallica started it's own tour in Europe,
called POOR TOURING ME.
- After the European Tour, Poor Touring Me continued in the US,
with Korn opening the first few shows and COC opening the bulk.
